Photographing Thornham - The Barn to the Beach

Date and time: Sunday 29th January - 10:30am - The walk will take approx. 3-4 hours

Details: After a brief introduction, our route takes us to the atmospheric old harbour where you'll have an opportunity to photograph the coal barn, moorings, boats and mysterious Thornham stumps. After this, we'll head around the coast path through the marshes, along the newly laid section of boardwalk, to the beautiful beach and dunes at Holme. After a quick stop for refreshments at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre, we'll retrace our steps along the coast path and back to the car park.
In our two locations (old harbour and beach) and on route, you'll be offered some themes and direction for things to photograph but will be free to wander and capture images in your own creative style, if you see something you find interesting, please feel free to stop and photograph it. We all see things differently and that is to be nurtured and encouraged. I'll be on hand to answer any questions you may have, to take a look at your images and to offer some gentle advice and encouragement.
The walk is aimed at those who enjoy taking photographs or exploring the Norfolk coast. Any camera type is fine (smartphone included) - please don't worry if you're new to photography, walks aren't a competition and everyone is made to feel equally welcome. Group walks provide an opportunity for like minded folk to get together and practice taking photographs, they aren't intended to be in depth tuition sessions (which work best on a 1:1 basis). Car Parking: Yes - Pay and Display at Thornham Village Hall - 3 hours £4 - Machines accept cash and cards.
Accessible via Public Transport: Yes - The No.36 Coastliner - please check times online before booking
Tide info: The tide will be in for most of our walk but falling towards the end.
Toilet Facilities: Yes at Holme Dunes (NOT at our start point unless you visit Thornham Deli next to the hall)
Refreshments/Cafe: Yes at Holme Dunes Visitor Centre. There are numerous pubs and cafes in Thornham Village.
Weather: The walk will go ahead as long as weather conditions allow. In the event of heavy rain/snow, strong winds or any level of weather warning being forecast, the walk will be cancelled and rescheduled for a later date. This is for the safety of the group. 24+ hours notice will be provided in the event of any cancellation.
Emergency Contact: Attendees are asked to provide personal contact details and emergency contact details before the start of each event. This information will only be used to provide walk updates or in the event of an emergency. Contact details will be securely stored and deleted/disposed of within 21 days of the walk ending. Names and contact numbers will not be used for marketing or any other purpose. This information is required for your own safety.
Attendees will be emailed 48-72 hours before the event with final joining instructions, a weather update and a link to provide contact information.
