Details: For this event, we'll be visiting the Snettisham RSPB reserve in West Norfolk. After meeting at the car park, our walk will take us past the fishing lakes, next to the lagoons then up on to the beach where we'll spend some time photographing the Old Jetty. From here we'll head a little further into the reserve for views across The Wash towards King's Lynn and Lincolnshire.

The main reason for our walk here is to experience and photograph a wildlife event known as the Snettisham Spectacular. As the tide comes in at Snettisham, flocks of wading birds are moved along the shoreline until eventually the tide gets too high and the birds run of ground. They then take to the skies in their thousands, moving and dancing across the sky in stunning murmurations which really take the breath away.

The walk is aimed at beginner and hobbyist photographers, any camera type is fine (smartphones included) - please don't worry if you're new to photography, walks aren't a competition and everyone is made to feel equally welcome. Group walks aren't intended to be in depth/technical tuition sessions but more of an opportunity for like minded folk to get together and practice taking photographs. If you have any concerns before booking your place, please just drop me an email.

Zoom lenses (300mm+) are recommended for close up action but wider angle lenses/compact zooms or phones, will be fine for capturing murmuration images.

Please note that an event of this nature is highly dependent on mother nature and circumstances outside of control. For example, if the wind is blowing in an easterly direction, the rising tide will be slowed and the birds may not take flight. Our chosen date has been handpicked by the RSPB as one of the best opportunities to witness the spectacular. Sadly there are no guarantees but on the times I've visited in the past, it has been breathtaking.

Car Parking: Yes - Pay and Display - £3 - Machines accept cash and cards.
