Photo Walks Winter Escape - Snettisham
Following the success of our first residential weekend at The Gin Trap Inn in September, I'm excited to announce a new residential break for the winter months. Winter is a strange time of year where finding the light can be quite a challenge and hibernation often seems the better option. There is however beauty to be found during the shorter days. For this 2 night weekend break I'm thinking frost and fog, early sunset, great company, open fires, good food and (of course) photography. I hope you'll consider joining me in my home village for the Photo Walks Winter Escape.
Dates: Saturday 7th - Monday 9th February 2026 (2 nights)
Staying at: The Rose and Crown, Snettisham. An award winning pub & restaurant in the sleepy village of Snettisham, West Norfolk - the 14th century inn has twisting passages and hidden corners, low ceilings and old beams, pamments tiles and log fires, excellent beers & wines, friendly staff and a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Perfect for a chilled winter weekend.
Please click for the pub website: Rose & Crown, Snettisham - Award Winning Village Pub & Restaurant

Details: This residential weekend provides an opportunity for guests to explore and photograph a beautiful section of the West Norfolk coast. Our time will be spent taking photographs, walking, taking in some beautiful scenery and enjoying some great Norfolk hospitality.
Our base is a very short drive from our photo walk locations at RSPB Snettisham and Dersingham/Wolferton Fen (Royal Station/Woodland & marshes). RSPB Snettisham overlooks the Wash in the West of Norfolk and is home to a variety of wading birds along with the much photographed Snettisham Jetty. Dersingham/Wolferton Fen is located nr Sandringham and carries a looped walk through woodland, heather, mosses and marshland. We'll be exploring these places in the winter and discovering why the Norfolk coast is beautiful at all times of year.

Who is the weekend aimed at? While all photo walk events are aimed primarily at beginner and hobbyist photographers, everyone who enjoys photography, walking and being part of a friendly group is welcome. Weekend escapes provide opportunities for exploring, meeting new people and some dedicated time with your camera that perhaps wouldn't be possible otherwise. My hope is that you'll feel inspired, not just by me or our surroundings but by other members of the group as well. All camera types are fine, from smartphones to film cameras and the very latest mirrorless tech. The weekend will be a chance to relax in beautiful surroundings and along with planned walks, there will be some free time to enjoy as you wish. For those with DSLRs or mirrorless cameras, tripods and remote release shutters are recommended. Our walks and location visits will be unrushed, after an introduction to our location and being offered some themes, we'll head to different points where you'll be free to wander and capture images at your own pace and in your own style. I'll never be far away and will be happy to answer questions, advise on composition, settings and different things you can try with your camera. There's also the option to spend some time together as a group in a social setting. There's nothing better after a cold walk than a roast dinner and open fire in a cosy village pub.

Minimum group numbers are in place for this weekend break - in the event of low uptake, full refunds (inc. deposit) will be provided to guests who've booked. Time of notification may vary but will be no less than 7 days.
Please note that weekend walks will go ahead in most weathers but with safety and enjoyment in mind, any heavy rain, snow or weather warnings may mean that walks have to be cancelled across the weekend. We'll do our best to work around things but as weather is wholly beyond the control of the organiser, refunds will not be available.
Guests join photo walk events at their own risk and agree to abide by relevant terms - click here
Additional charges (lunch, dinner, drinks, damages, missing items etc.) accrued with the accommodation provider will be payable by those who incur them - such charges are payable either on check out or will be invoiced separately following the weekend. I ask please that all drinks and meals are paid for at the time of ordering (or after each meal) rather than using room tabs. Group meal costs will be split fairly depending on what each person has.
If you have any questions or queries regarding this weekend break, please don't hesitate to get in touch via email, socials or mobile.
