Details: Castle Rising Castle is situated just off the A149 near Sandringham in West Norfolk. The stone keep (built in approx. 1140 AD) is one of the finest examples of its kind in the UK. The castle has been used as a hunting lodge, royal residence and in the 18th century was home for a mental patient. There are rumours that a ghost (of former resident Queen Isabella) wanders the top floor (extra points if you manage to photograph her!).
Our group photography session takes place over 2-3 hours. After a brief introduction and some gentle direction, you'll be free to wander and capture images in your own creative style. Jon will be on hand to answer any questions and to offer encouragement and advice where needed. After an hour or so, we'll take a short break before heading off again.
The walk is aimed at beginner and hobbyist photographers, any camera type is fine (smartphones included) - please don't worry if you're new to photography, walks aren't a competition and everyone is made to feel equally welcome. Group walks aren't intended to be in depth/technical tuition sessions but more of an opportunity for like minded folk to get together to practice taking photographs. Car Parking: Yes - free of charge
Accessible via Public Transport: Yes - buses stop in the village and also on the A149. Please email if you require help with journey planning.
Toilet Facilities: Yes - close to the car park.
Refreshments/Cafe: Not on site but there is a gift shop. Castle Rising Tea Room and The Black Horse Inn are situated in the village.
Weather: Photography walks are dependant on the weather. If there's a forecast of rain or any type of weather warning, the walk will be postponed with a view to rescheduling. If rescheduling is not possible, the walk will be cancelled. 24 hours notice will be provided by email with information on postponement/cancellation. Full terms and conditions can be found via the link below. If the walk is cancelled for any reason (including but not limited to poor weather), a full refund will be provided.
Emergency Contact: Attendees are required to provide contact details and emergency contact details before the start of each event. This information will only be used if required. This information will be securely stored and disposed of within 21 days of the walk ending. Names and phone numbers will not be used for any other purpose. This information is required for your own safety.
