Details: For this event, we'll be taking a steam train ride on the North Norfolk Railway from Holt to the seaside town of Sheringham. Once in Sheringham, we'll take a walk through the town and head to Beeston Hill (bump) to enjoy incredible views along the North Norfolk coastline. After our walk, we'll break in town for some lunch (either as a group or free time if you prefer) before making our return journey. We'll have some time at the start of our journey to photograph the station and train, while it depends on the NNR and the driver/fireman, in previous years we've been invited up onto the train plate/cab, an experience in itself!
Our Itinerary/Timetable for the day is as follows:
Meet at Holt Station: 10:30am
Steam train departs Holt: 11:15am - Arrives into Sheringham: 11:37am
Photo Walk in Sheringham - 11:45am - 1:45pm
Lunch in Sheringham: 1:45pm - 3:15pm
Steam Train Departs Sheringham: 3:35pm - Arrives into Holt: 4:00pm
Rover tickets for the railway have been pre booked and are included in the photo walks event fee.
The event is aimed at beginner and hobbyist photographers but is open to everyone who loves the outdoors and the Norfolk coast. Any camera type is fine (smartphones included) - please don't worry if you're new to photography, our events/walks aren't a competition and everyone is welcome. Group walks aren't intended to be in depth/technical tuition sessions but more of an opportunity for like minded folk to get together to practice taking photographs. Car Parking: Yes - at Holt station (free of charge at time of writing)
Accessible via Public Transport: Yes - Please email if you require directions and planning from your location
Toilet Facilities: Yes - in multiple locations on our route
Refreshments/Cafe: Yes - plenty of cafes and restaurants in Sheringham and light refreshments available at Weybourne.
Weather and Cancellations: As non refundable ticket booking is required for the railway, the event will still go ahead if there is a forecast of rain. Please bear this in mind before you make your booking. If you need to cancel your place, please note that train ticket costs (£23.50) are NON REFUNDABLE. Regardless of time frame, if you need to cancel your place, you will only receive a part refund - the photo walks admin fee (£25).
Emergency Contact: All attendees are required to provide a contact number for themselves and someone who can be called in the event of an emergency during the event. This information will be securely stored and disposed of within 21 days of the walk ending. Names and phone numbers will not be used for any other purpose. This information is required for your own safety.
