1:1 Norfolk Coast/Countryside Photography Tuition
Who are 1:1 tuition walks aimed at?
1:1 tuition walks are aimed at beginners and those keen to learn the basics of photography and camera craft. Perhaps you've been given (or have bought) a new camera, or have owned a camera for a while and would like to learn how to get more from it. A 1:1 walk will help develop your creative vision and give you the knowledge required to create eye catching images.
What will I learn?
We'll talk about composition and the importance of story telling in photography. We'll also look at the different settings on your camera and practice using them to create immersive images. If you've ever wondered where to put an object in the frame, which aperture, shutter speed or ISO settings to use and when to adjust them, a 1:1 walk could be for you. While our walk will concentrate on landscape photography, the basic techniques you learn will be transferable to other genres of image making.
What type of camera should I bring?
Any camera type is fine from smartphone/compact to Bridge/CSC/DSLR. However, the level of available tuition is fully dependant on your camera type and the settings it has within it. For example, while we can create stunning images with smartphones and compact cameras, these cameras will not have the same functions or controls as a DSLR. A spare DSLR camera is available to borrow for the session if you'd like to.
What can I expect on a walk day, when and where do they happen?
To begin our walk, we'll meet in a local cafe and talk for a while about what you may or may not already know about photography, I'll then run through some basic camera settings before we head out on our route. You'll be encouraged to capture images that you find appealing and I'll be on hand to offer guidance and suggestions of what I look for in a nice photography. 1:1 walks have now sold out for 2021 - available dates for 2022 will be added to the this page soon. Walks usually take place on Wednesdays but some Sunday dates will be made available too. There are three available options for session length:
2 hours - £49
Half Day (2-4 Hours) - £75
Full Day (6-8 Hours) - £120 - A full day's photography workshop will include a break for lunch (not included in cost)
Sessions can take place locally to you or at one of photo walk's handpicked locations. These include Snettisham, Thornham, Wells next the Sea, Burnham Overy Staithe, King's Lynn or Norwich. Location requests (not listed) outside a 30 mile radius of photo walk HQ in West Norfolk, will be subject to travel costs.
What else do I need to know?
As with our group events, 1:1 walks are fully dependant on the weather. If rain or any type of yellow/amber/red warning is forecast, a walk will be postponed with no less then 24 hours notice provided. If a reschedule isn't possible, a full refund will be provided.
Ages 16+ only. If you're lucky enough to be under 16 and would like to come along, please ask a parent or guardian to email and book on your behalf. I ask that anyone under 16 is accompanied by an adult on walk day.
Please feel free to bring snacks and drinks, Haribo Tangfastics or Wagon Wheels are personal favourites.
